Elden Ring Meets Morrowind: Massive Mod Gets a New 22-Minute Gameplay Video

The ambitious fan project returns after months of silence
After nearly six months of silence, the ambitious Elden Ring mod that aims to bring the world of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind into FromSoftware’s action RPG has finally resurfaced. Many fans had started to wonder whether the project had quietly been cancelled, but modder InfernoPlus has now shared a new 22-minute gameplay video showing that the project is still alive and making impressive progress.

For those unfamiliar with the project, this massive mod aims to combine the world, story, and atmosphere of Morrowind with the demanding combat mechanics of Elden Ring. According to the latest update, the world map is now complete, with each region featuring its own weather and lighting systems. Of course, the mod still needs plenty of additional work before it can be considered fully polished, but the current progress is already enough to make both Elder Scrolls and Soulslike fans curious.
Alchemy, Quests, and Crime Systems Are Already Functional
The newly released gameplay footage shows the player character interacting with various NPCs and completing different quests. Many of the mod’s core systems already appear to be functional, although they still look rough around the edges and clearly need more refinement before release.
One of the most interesting parts of the video is the first proper look at the mod’s alchemy system. Just like in the original Morrowind, players will be able to interact with a deeper RPG structure rather than simply exploring a recreated map inside Elden Ring.
The mod also includes a working crime and punishment system. If the player commits a crime while guards are nearby, they react and attempt to arrest the character. This is an important detail because it shows that the project is not only recreating Morrowind’s locations, but also trying to bring back many of the systems that made Bethesda’s classic RPG so memorable.
More Than a Simple Map Port
What makes this project especially impressive is that it does not appear to be a simple world import. InfernoPlus and the team are attempting to rebuild major parts of Morrowind’s RPG identity inside Elden Ring’s engine. That includes quests, NPC interactions, alchemy, crime mechanics, spellcasting, equipment systems, and other gameplay elements that were never originally designed for FromSoftware’s game structure.
This makes the project feel more like a full reinterpretation of Morrowind through Elden Ring’s combat system rather than a traditional remake or texture swap. In other words, it is Morrowind wearing Elden Ring’s armor, and somehow the helmet actually fits.
Could the Mod Face Legal Problems?
As with many large-scale fan projects, one of the biggest questions is whether the mod could face legal trouble. Projects that use major existing IPs sometimes run the risk of being shut down by rights holders before they are ever released.
However, Bethesda has generally been known for a more mod-friendly approach compared to many other major publishers. For now, there does not appear to be any indication that Bethesda or FromSoftware plans to stop the project. One of the rare examples often mentioned is Doom Remake 4, which was reportedly targeted because it used a third-party engine.
Fans are now hoping this Morrowind and Elden Ring crossover can avoid similar problems and eventually reach the finish line.
No Release Date Yet
There is currently no release date or ETA for the Morrowind mod for Elden Ring. Still, the new 22-minute gameplay video makes one thing clear: the project is far from dead.
If development continues at this pace, it could become one of the most fascinating fan-made RPG projects in recent memory. For now, fans can only watch the latest gameplay footage and hope that this strange, ambitious, and surprisingly elegant fusion of two legendary RPG worlds eventually becomes playable.
